Human body
Human body contains different organs
such as heart, lungs, liver, stomach, intestine,
eyes, ear, muscles, bones etc. Each of them
also perform specific function. But they work in
a coordinated or integrated manner for the
benefit of the individual. For example, when
we write, there is coordination between the eyes
and the hand. When somebody is dancing or
playing, there is coordination among the
functioning of hands, legs, head, eyes & ears
etc. As soon as we eat, the digestive glands
start secreting enzymes. When somebody runs,
the rate of respiration & circulation increase to
provide more energy. So integration of activities
of different parts of the body or organs is
essential for the organism. Such integration is
achieved by two systems, nervous and
endocrine systemns
Nervous system consists of a group of
organs which control and coordinate the
activities of various parts of the body in
response to external and internal changes or
stimuli. The basic components of nervous
system are the neurons. Studies on different
aspects of nervous system is called neurology.
